Exploring Integration

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain how SAP SuccessFactors integrates with the SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite.

Integration

SAP SuccessFactors Learning (LMS) has several integration points with the rest of the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite. Some of them are briefly discussed here.

Users

Users are extracted from SAP SuccessFactors HCM and imported into SAP SuccessFactors Learning nightly through the User Connector. The standard fields in HCM are mapped to standard or custom fields of the LMS. Changes made in HCM generally will need to wait until the connector runs in order to update in the LMS. The user’s locale, time zone, and currency fields are the exception to this rule and are updated in the LMS in real-time.

Attributes

Attributes, such as skills, abilities, knowledge, or behaviors, can be created or imported into SAP SuccessFactors HCM. Once in HCM, a Competency Connector will run in the LMS to pull the attributes into SAP SuccessFactors Learning, where they may be associated with items.

Competencies assigned to an item indicate the level to which a user is expected to demonstrate the competency upon successful completion of the item. AI-Assisted capabilities can be used to associate skills with learning items in bulk through the import process. Items may be configured to automatically assess (rate) the user's associated competencies when completing the item.

When items have been associated with attributes, users may search for items by attributes and add items as learning activities to their development plans in SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning and Mentoring.

AI-Assisted capabilities can be used to associate skills with Open Content Network (OCN) items based on the predefined skills provided by the OCN providers.

SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone

Items and Programs in the LMS may be associated with SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone workspaces. Users who have the item assigned are registered into a class for the item, have completed an item, or are enrolled in a program may automatically be invited to the associated Work Zone workspace(s) and have access to them. This allows for collaboration among students using the Work Zone functionality.

Items and Programs

When users have Items and Programs assigned to them in the LMS, they will also appear on their HCM To-Do List. Completed items will also appear in the HCM Learning History.

In SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning and Mentoring, Items and Programs may be added as learning activities through a library search.

Learning content can be automatically imported from Open Content Network (OCN) providers to make courses available to learners.

Gamification

Gamification may increase Learning usage and effectiveness. Customers may introduce gaming concepts in the LMS to increase adoption, excitement, and engagement and motivate users by rewarding them with points, recognition, certifications, and badges for learning activities.

Currently, SAP SuccessFactors Learning supports integration with Bunchball Nitro.
