Calculating Bonus Payout

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the options on the bonus payout.

Bonus Payout Options

The Bonus Payout screen allows you to calculate the payout based on bonus plans, managers, or employees of a program.

The Bonus Payout screen is displayed.

The options for bonus payouts are:

  • By Bonus Plans will trigger calculation for all bonus plans or a specific bonus plan included in the program
  • By Managers will trigger calculation for selected managers
  • By Employee will trigger calculation for selected employees

Changes to values such as assignment dates, basis, and goal parameters require recalculation of bonus payout.

Select Do not update completed forms if you do not want completed forms to be recalculated.

No forms will be generated unless the bonus calculation is triggered.

Update Data Files

In this exercise, you will update the variable pay plan data files for the new bonus period.

Steps

  1. Login to SAP SuccessFactors as an administrator.

  2. Using Action Search navigate to Compensation Home.

  3. Select Varpay Incentive Plan.

  4. Go to Plan Setup→Manage Users→Edit Employee History.

  5. Without entering anything in the search criteria, click Search Users.

  6. Select All, this will allow you to edit the employee history directly from the interface or export the list for offline editing.

    • If editing directly from the history editor, change the year of the Start and End Dates to current year for all employees
      1. Leave the month and day the same
      2. Do not change any other information on the editor
    • If editing offline
      1. Choose Select All.
      2. Click Export Data→Export.
      3. In the exported file, replace the year with the current year.
      4. Save csv file locally.
      5. Back in Edit Employee History page, expand Import Data section.
      6. Select Choose File.
      7. Browse for the csv file in your computer.
      8. Click Import Data.
      9. When prompted to confirm, select Ok.

  7. Refresh the page.

  8. Click Search Users again

  9. Confirm if the Start Date and End Date of all employees reflect the current year.

    • If Not, click Actions – All Plans (top right corner)
      1. Choose Monitor Compensation Jobs.
      2. Click Download Status.
      3. This should provide you with the error on why the history file failed.
      4. Select Close to go back to the previous page.

  10. Navigate to Plan Setup→Manage Plan Details→Business Goals.

  11. Search for Area Costs goal.

  12. Open the Area Costs goal with Lookup Field Value of North Region.

  13. Change the value to 1.3.

  14. Click Ok.

  15. Navigate to Plan Setup→Manage Plan Details→Bonus Plans.

  16. Open the Operations plan.

  17. Scoll down and select Configure Business Goal Weights.

  18. Change the goal weights as follows

    The Business Goal Weight Worksheet is displayed.

  19. Select Save Plan.

  20. Go to Plan Setup→Calculate Bonus→Bonus Payout.

  21. Select All Bonus Plans.

  22. Click Calculate.

Result
