Import Data
Objective
After completing this lesson, you will be able to import the data into the model.
Having created our model structure we can now import some data to populate it. In this instance we will do this from a CSV file, but other data sources could also be used.
- In your newly created model PnL_Admin, select Data Management from the dropdown menu in the top left.

- Under Import Jobs select the Import Data icon.

- In the Select a data source window, select File (Local File or File Server).

- Click the Select Source File button and then select the file Data_PnL_Actual.txt from your downloads folder (where you downloaded the file to in the earlier step). Then click Create.

- When the has been created, select Set Up Import.

- On the Prepare Data screen, In the Overview Panel, there is a warning highlighting 62 issues related to the value SIGNEDDATA. Select the clickable link 62 issues to display the cause.

- Set the Data Type dropdown to Number to resolve the issues. You will get confirmation that it has been successfully changed and no issues detected.

- Select Next to proceed to the next screen.

- You are now in the Map to Facts screen. Here you can map the remaining columns. Drag and drop the following values from Source Columns to Unmapped:

ENTITY to Organisation
-
PRODLINE to Products
-
SIGNEDDATA to Measure_Admin

- Once you’ve finished dragging and dropping the values from Source Columns to Unmapped your screen should match the screenshot below. Select Next to continue.

- This screen allows you to review the Mapping Properties. Select Next to validate the data.

- Once the data is validated, a confirmation message will appear. Select Run Import to import the validated data.

- Review the model settings and select Finish to import the data.

- Once complete, the following screen is displayed, providing information about the status of the import and the number of rows imported.
