Explaining Configuration Profile: Additional Information

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to name and explain more details about the configuration profile under LO-VC and AVC.

Configuration Profile Details

The following figure provides you with initial information about the configuration profile.

This figure explains when you use a configuration profile for a material. Diagram illustrating class type selection, configuration scenario specification, and control parameters, with an arrow between Material Master and Variant Class.

Note

Other control parameters exist only under LO-VC, such as:

  • Allowed Screens
  • Start Screen
  • Availability Checks for Components
  • Most scenario-dependent control parameters

Under AVC, the scenario-dependent control parameter is only the fixing of the order BOM to selected assemblies and top-down.

The availability check for components only exists under LO-VC and for simulation only. An availability check for components in the sales order can't be set.

The detail screen of the configuration screen contains basic data and the configuration initial screen. The next figure shows the basic data.

This figure shows a screenshot of the Basic data screen of a Configuration Profile.

Now, check the detail information of the "Configuration initial screen" under AVC.

This figure shows a screenshot of the Configuration initial screen of a Configuration Profile within AVC. You're able to define the Configuration Parameters, make settings for the User interface and define entries for the Order BOM.

In comparison, check the detail information of the "Configuration initial screen" under LO-VC. Differences are visible.

This figure shows a screenshot of the Configuration initial screen of a Configuration Profile within LO-VC. You're able to define the Configuration Parameters, make settings for the User interface, define entries for the Order BOM and the Sales Order.

The following figure gives you more details about the configuration profile under LO-VC.

This figure gives you more information on a configuration profile within LO-VC. You're able to define filters, set the priority of the Configuration Profile and define Simulation settings.

The use of filters enables you to restrict the explosion of BOMs in the high-level configuration.

Hint

(LO-VC) Note that these filters are valid in the high-level configuration so that components that aren't displayed by the filter might not be considered in the sales order or in the maintenance of the order BOM.

(LO-VC) Besides using filters, the BOM explosion in the high-level configuration can still be restricted by the explosion level in the configuration profile and the definition of the BOM applications that are assigned to the configuration profile.

This figure gives you detailed information on the Configuration initial screen of a Configuration Profile within LO-VC.

LO-VC: Interface Design

Interface Design Name:

  • Any character string max. 18 characters (for example, Material Number)

  • Name is unique and internally linked to number from the number range.

  • Checks regarding the same name of the interface design:

  • Leads to identical interface design.

  • The same interface design can also be used for several materials with different class and characteristic assignments. Interface design then has the meaning of a maximum interface design.

  • Subsequent change of class assignment => no check

LO-VC: Configuration Browser

The Configuration Browser allows you to navigate simultaneously in the configuration structure and display the valuation screen of the selected material for input.

The configuration browser replaces the screens of the configuration structure. The Configuration Browser is recommended.

LO-VC: Settings

  • Settings can be made in the configuration profile. These settings are stored specifically for the configuration profile. These settings have the lowest priority.

  • Settings can be made on the value assignment screen. If you save these settings, they're saved on a user-specific basis for all configuration profiles. These settings have a higher priority.

  • Settings that are made on the value assignment screen and that aren't saved are regarded as current settings. These have the highest priority.

  • However, you can switch between these three settings at any time (if they exist).

This figure shows gives you additional information on the Configuration initial screen of a Configuration Profile within LO-VC.

Note

As already mentioned, as a scenario-specific setting under AVC, fixing exists only for the order BOM. You can only choose between selected assys and top-down .

Configuration – Scenarios Under AVC

Scenarios that can be set in the configuration profile under AVC:

  • Planned production order and no BOM explosion

  • Planned production order and multilevel BOM explosion

  • Order BOM and multilevel BOM explosion

  • Sales order and multilevel BOM explosion

This figure gives you an overview of possible Header / Item combinations for AVC scenarios. It covers combinations for Planned and Production Order, Sales Order (SET) and an Order BOM.

Configuration – Scenarios under LO-VC

Scenarios that can be set in the configuration profile under LO-VC:

  • Planned production order and no BOM explosion

  • Planned production order and single-level BOM explosion

  • Order BOM and single-level BOM explosion

  • Sales order and single-level BOM explosion

  • Planned production order and multilevel BOM explosion

  • Order BOM and multilevel BOM explosion

  • Sales order and multilevel BOM explosion

In LO-VC and single-level BOM explosion for the header material, the (single-level) BOM of the material is exploded. Afterward, the BOM explosion terminates. Configurable assemblies that might exist in this BOM can be configured as long as the configuration profiles allows it. It means that you have a maximum of two-level configuration.

In LO-VC, the single-level BOM explosion for configurable assemblies has no significance. The explosion level according to the header material is decisive.

This single-level BOM explosion in the configuration profile can't be used for the knowledge base and runtime version.

This figure gives you an overview of possible Header / Item combinations for LO-VC scenarios. It covers combinations for Planned and Production Order, Sales Order (SET) and an Order BOM.
