The Value of Managing Value Levers
Managing Value Levers
Value levers are essential components of the strategy and plan document. They help the category manager identify opportunities for the organization to influence its value drivers, such as increasing sales, reducing costs, improving efficiency, building supplier relationships, and minimizing risks. Ultimately, this enhances the company’s value in both the short and long term.
Value levers are linked to specific categories, and initiatives must align with the value levers associated with each category. As the category manager gains insights into the category landscape—such as specifications, spending data, supplier information, and logistics—the value levers will evolve and grow.

SAP Ariba Category Management provides out-of-the-box value lever groups.
Category management administrators can assign and define confidence level values for segment recommendations to the value lever groups. Based on the confidence levels that the category management administrators assign and the category segmentation for the category, value lever recommendations are generated and displayed when you assign value levers to categories. The value levers are listed in descending order of the recommendation level.
The recommendation levels are:
- Excellent Match
- Very Good Match
- Good Match
- Fair Match
- Poor Match
