Monitoring Spend Analytics for Current Plan

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to monitor Spend Analytics for the current strategy.

Monitoring Spend Analytics

Now that the strategy and plan are active, the category manager can monitor the plan's progress in the Monitor Strategy Execution application. When entering the application, the category manager will select the appropriate category and document.

The Monitor Strategy Execution page provides the category manager with easy access to the category and spend profiles, strategy management, opportunities, and subcategories. A calendar tracks sourcing projects and contracts for the selected strategy and plan.

If a category has only one active strategy and plan, the Monitor Strategy Execution page displays the details about that plan. If another plan becomes active, the Strategy and Plan field will update to reflect the new plan's details. If multiple region-specific plans become active, the category manager must select the desired plan to view from the Select Strategy and Plan pop-up.

Here are other available items on the Monitor Strategy Execution page:

  • Goals: Category-specific goals set by the category manager that are in the Active phase.
  • Category Details: Displays category-specific information determined by the category manager administrator.
  • Initiatives: Shows the active initiatives that the category manager has established.
  • Planning Calendar: Displays dates relevant to contracts, initiatives, and sourcing projects.
  • Quick Links: Provide easy access to applications and their associated cards.
  • Categories: Displays the parent and subcategories of the selected category.
  • News and Alerts: Includes news and alerts from the market intelligence provider. For example, if you have a license from Beroe, then the news and alerts come from them.

Summary

In this lesson, you learned how category managers can monitor the progress of their active strategy and plan using the Monitor Strategy Execution application in SAP. To access the application, select the Monitor Strategy Execution option and choose the relevant category and strategy/plan.

The Monitor Strategy Execution page provides easy access to a range of important information and tools. This includes category details, spend profile, strategy management, opportunities, and subcategories. Additionally, it includes a calendar that tracks sourcing projects and contracts for the selected strategy and plan.

When dealing with multiple plans, if only one plan is active, its details will be automatically displayed. However, if multiple plans are active, you will need to select the desired plan from the Select Strategy and Plan popup.

The application offers several key features:

  • Goals: This allows you to view category-specific, active phase goals.
  • Category Details: This section displays category information as set by the administrator.
  • Initiatives: Here, you can view and edit active initiatives.
  • Planning Calendar: This feature lets you view relevant dates for contracts, initiatives, and sourcing projects.
  • Quick Links: These provide easy access to related applications and cards.
  • Categories: This section displays the parent and subcategories of the selected category.
  • News and Alerts: Here, you can view updates from market intelligence providers.

For monitoring the active plan, the Goals tile provides a summary and more detailed views when selected. The Initiatives section similarly offers a summary or the ability to view and edit specific initiatives. The Planning Calendar can be adjusted to different views (hours, days, months) and allows you to scroll to see dates for various items; selecting items provides detailed views. Quick Links give you access to information from different cards used during strategy and plan creation. The Categories section lets you view the selected category and its subcategories.

These tools and features together help Category Managers effectively track and manage their strategies and plans, ensuring smooth execution and timely updates.
