SAP Business Workflow allows you to define custom business processes that are not covered by the standard scenarios in SAP Signavio Process Navigator. These can range from simple approval procedures to complex business sequences.
SAP Business Workflow is particularly effective when:
- Work processes are repetitive and need to be automated.
- The process involves multiple responsible agents in a specific order.
- You need to respond to errors or specific events in existing business processes.
SAP provides various workflow scenario templates. LoB configuration experts can use these to meet customer requirements identified during Fit-to-Standard workshops. You can maintain these workflows using several function-specific apps tailored to different business areas.
To manage predefined scenarios or create custom approval workflows, open the relevant workflow app and follow the SAP Help Portal documentation to define a workflow here.
A workflow consists of individual work items, which are tasks assigned to specific users. When a user is assigned a step, the task details appear in their My Inbox app.

Assign the Employee business role to all users to ensure they can access the My Inbox and My Outbox apps.
