Tracking the Status of Migration Objects

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to track the status of your migration objects

Data Migration Status

The Data Migration Status app provides a comprehensive overview of all migration objects. It leverages Situation Handling to automatically notify responsible users when a task requires attention.

This feature is particularly useful when managing large data volumes. Instead of monitoring the progress of a large migration template (such as a 100MB file), you can focus on other tasks within SAP S/4HANA Cloud. A notification will appear in the top-right corner once the Simulation or Migration steps are complete.

The Situation Handling templates for these status changes are enabled by default in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Clicking the notification link directs you to the Data Migration Status app for detailed information.

Extended Statistics in the Data Migration Status App

The Data Migration Status app uses Extended Statistics to capture detailed information about migrated data. You can use source values, target values after mapping, and target IDs to validate or audit your migration results.

For example, if you select the Statistics link for the CO - Cost Center migration object, you can drill down into specific fields such as Company Code or Cost Center Category.

Selecting Company Code might show that 2,000 records were imported for Company Code 1010. From this view, you can display the actual records and perform the following actions:

  • Export the data to Microsoft Excel
  • Share the information via email
  • Create a tile on the SAP Fiori Launchpad for quick access

The Extended Statistics feature is active by default. However, you can adjust the settings for each migration object to decide whether to capture this data.

Caution

If you disable extended statistics logging for a migration object, the system stops collecting future data and deletes all existing records for that object.
