Configuring Custom Reports

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure the custom reports to be validated using the data transition validation tool.

Configuring Custom Reports Using the Tool

What are Custom Reports?

As you already discovered in this learning journey, the data transition validation tool provides reports as pre-delivered content. Besides these reports, you can also validate custom reports (Z or Y reports) with ALV output type or custom namespace reports and execute them in the background. This feature augments the business data validation process during system conversions and SAP S/4HANA update/upgrade by allowing business users to validate business data for custom and namespace reports.

In this lesson, you will learn how to add these custom reports to your data transition validation project.

Prerequisites

Before adding the custom reports, ensure that you already have the following:

  • The latest version of the data transition validation tool
  • You are logged in as a Custom user
  • You defined the systems in the Maintain Systems step of the project
  • You maintained the Project Global Data
  • The same version of the custom report exists in both the source and target systems.
  • If you use a variant for data extraction, variants must be created in the respective systems for report execution.

Adding a Custom Report to data transition validation project

Note

As with standard reports, you can maintain input parameters for custom reports: you can set splits, conditions, and variants.

Summary

After this lesson, you can add a custom report to the reports list.
