In the previous lesson, you learned how to perform the simulation and how to view or analyze the simulation results. In this lesson, you will take the next step, execute data extraction.
This is performed on the reports you configured in step 5—Define Test Specification. The data extraction screen allows you to extract data for all reports at the header level (report) or at a work item level. Please note that a combination of both these at one execution is not possible.
Several buttons on that screen allow you to perform the extraction based on your needs.
Generate Workitems
This is the first action—it generates the workitems for extraction, precisely as the Simulation step does.
Run Selected
This button triggers the extraction of the selected reports: it will execute the reports, fetch the report output, and show the results.
Re-run
You can use this button if you have previously used the Run Selected button. For example, if you have encountered an error during execution, you can use Re-run to perform the execution again.
Reset
Click on Reset if you want to delete or remove all the extracted results.
Cancel Jobs
Let’s say you feel that you don't want to perform this execution anymore in the middle of the processing. Then you click, and you can click on cancel jobs at any given point in time.
Resume Jobs
When the jobs are cancelled, you can click on Resume to run only those that are cancelled.
Refresh
You can click on this to update the status.
Import Simulation Results
Suppose you have already performed a simulation and are happy with the results. Instead of performing the data extraction, you can use this option to import the simulation results. Therefore, any data simulated in the simulation screen will be carried forward to extraction, meaning you don't have to execute it again.
Summary
You can now perform data extraction at the report or workitem level.
