Managing a Project in the Data Transition Validation Tool

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage a project for data transition validation, including creating, editing, and opening a project.

Creating, Editing, and Opening a Project in the Data Transition Validation Tool

Each data transition validation requires a project. This project includes all the details and steps necessary to validate the data. In this lesson, you will learn how to create a project and edit some project details.

Create a New Project in the Data Transition Validation Tool

In the following exercise, you will create a project. We assume that you have been assigned a user with the appropriate authorization to execute data transition validation at this point.

Settings Tab

The Settings tab on the Manage Project page allows you to view and edit some project settings.

This figure shows a project change screen in SAP, where project details and data retention settings are being modified.

You can change the date and time format, change the decimal notation for numbers, and set the Data Retention date (this is relevant if you want the project data deleted on a specific date).

Open Project

After you create your project, you can open it later by following a few steps:

  1. Log into your system,
  2. Access the DTV transaction,
  3. Enter your project ID and select the Display or Change button. This last step will take you to the Manage Project page.
This figure shows the SAP Data Transition Validation Tool where a user inputs a Project ID to display, change, or create.

If you select the Default check box, as shown in the previous exercise, the project will be opened automatically after you call the DTV transaction.

This figure shows the Data Transition Validation Tool where a project ID is being managed (display, change, or create).

Summary

Now you can create and open a project for the data transaction validation tool. You can also change project settings
