Execution of the Analysis

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to analyze the count, attributes, and metadata of the results table.

Analyze a Table and Compare the Metadata during a upgrade cycle

In this lesson, you will learn how to analyze a table and compare the metadata before and after conversion or during an upgrade cycle.

After you finish your analysis, as shown in the previous lesson, you can continue with analyzing a few of the data attributes in the source and target systems.

For this, take the following exercise where you will use two tables for each system.

Note that this table analysis feature only compares the metadata and the volume before and after conversion or during an upgrade cycle. However, it does not perform a content-wise comparison, such as a cell-by-cell or row-by-row comparison between the two data sets. It simply provides information for each table from the source system. You can then perform the same analysis on the target system. However, this comparison is not automated. In the current version of the data transition validation tool, the table analysis provides data that you can use for a manual comparison between the two systems.

Summary

You can now use the table analysis feature to retrieve attributes of the selected tables, which you can later use to compare the source and target systems.
