Constructing a Tile-Based Dashboard

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to construct a tile-based dashboard.

Custom Tile-Based Dashboards

Select the type of report by choosing the Canvas, Table, Tile, or Dashboard icons.

To build a tile-based dashboard using Report Center, navigate to Report Center→New→Dashboard and choose the Select button to start dashboard builder.

Tiles in the Dashboard

On the Select Tiles tab, choose the option from the items under Tile Name.

On the General Info tab, choose Add Tile to add tiles to your dashboard.

Hint

You cannot build or edit tiles in this tool. You can only combine existing tiles into dashboards. If you want to build or edit tiles, then use online tile builder.

In the Select Tiles window, choose the tiles you want in your dashboard.

Note

You can combine tiles from all products except recruiting tiles - they can only be combined with other recruiting tiles.

Dashboard Name

Under General Info, configure the dashboard and tiles, as explained in the text below.

Give your dashboard a name and save it.

Additional tile-based dashboard tips are as follows:

  • You can give the dashboard a different name in each language by choosing Add Language.
  • You can change the order of tiles by dragging them up or down.
  • You can set default filters so that your users will not need to choose their filters the first time running a dashboard.
  • You can set date filters for a specific date range or you may allow the report consumer free selection of the date range.
  • In Report Center, an admin may preview the dashboard without having to share it with themselves.

Dashboard Sharing with Report Center

Select Share from the dropdown.

To share a dashboard with the Report Center, navigate to Report Center→Action Menu→Share.

Hint

Sharing is different from permissions.

Select the User, Group, or Role icons .

Share the dashboard with the appropriate user or group or role. More detail on sharing can be found in the unit on the Report Center.
