SAP SuccessFactors provides a tiered approach to reporting and analytics, ranging from real-time operational reporting to strategic workforce planning. This ensures that organizations can move from basic data collection to actionable intelligence and long-term strategic alignment.

Operational Reporting with Stories

Operational reporting is primarily delivered through Story Reports. This is the standard reporting tool for SAP SuccessFactors, designed to provide real-time insights into transactional data. Stories are visually oriented, allowing administrators to create dynamic dashboards that incorporate everything from key statistics and images to various charts and graphs.

Because Stories are cross-topical, you can report on data across any SAP SuccessFactors module in a single view. More importantly, these reports reflect live transactional data, ensuring that decisions are based on the most current information available. Stories are included as part of the standard SAP SuccessFactors license.

Analytics with People Intelligence and AI with Joule

The second tier of the analytics portfolio focuses on People Intelligence. This powerful offering helps organizations identify deep patterns and gain the insights necessary for complex decision-making. Unlike standard reporting, this solution provides prebuilt insights with automatically connected data sources.

These capabilities extend beyond traditional HR data, allowing users to access intelligence across various lines of business (LoB). This tier also integrates Joule, SAP’s AI-powered copilot, which enables users to access analytics and insights through a natural language chat interface. Please note that these advanced analytics and AI features require an additional license.

Workforce Planning with SAP Analytics Cloud

For strategic alignment, SAP offers workforce planning through SAP Analytics Cloud for planning. This solution helps organizations align their human capital with overall business objectives and financial goals. It supports critical activities such as:

  • Headcount and Cost Planning: Analyzing the financial impact of personnel changes.
  • Supply and Demand Forecasting: Identifying future talent gaps and surplus.

SAP BDC provides the data layer that bridges the applications and AI. SAP BDC provides a data platform to manage all SAP and non-SAP data and is used to build advanced analytical applications and AI.

SAP BDC is not a single software product. SAP BDC is a platform that includes multiple software components that work together to provide all the services required of an AI-ready data platform. Customers choose which of the listed SAP BDC components they want to use depending on their use case. They can start with a simple SAP BDC landscape and grow this as their requirements evolve.

SAP Business Data Cloud Intelligent Applications

Intelligent applications are AI-powered, data-rich dashboards that provide insights on real-time data and make recommendations to the business user. They are delivered and fully managed by SAP and are ready to use out-of-the-box with a simple, automated installation.

Intelligent applications are built using SAP Analytics Cloud stories that consume data models from SAP Datasphere. The data models of SAP Datasphere connect to the data products of SAP BDC.

A key feature of an intelligent application is the built-in AI co-pilot known as Just Ask. Just Ask supports the business user who asks questions using natural language. For example, a business user asks the question: "List the regions that showed the best growth for e-scooter sales since last year". The AI co-pilot quickly returns results and provides additional insights, illustrated with graphics and text.
