Setting Universal Dashboard Filter Settings

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to set universal dashboard filter settings.

Manage Dashboard Filters

Choose Manage Dashboard Filters from the choices under Manage Dashboards.

To see the options for the filter panel and data set groups, choose Manage Dashboard Filters. All settings made in this page apply to all tiles and dashboards.

Note

You cannot manage filters in the Report Center.

Create a Dataset Group Filter Video Tutorial

Select the link Create a Data Set Filter group to view the demonstration.

From the dropdown menu, choose All Datasets and Dataset Groups, All Datasets, or Dataser Groups.

The administrator can hide some of the complexity of forms using dataset groups.

  • All Datasets will give the report consumer of a tile / dashboard the list of all form templates in the system. Users will then have to select the forms relevant for their group of users.
  • Dataset Groups will instead show groups which the administrator has defined.

To edit dataset groups, select configure dataset groups.

Dataset groups allow administrators to create groups of form templates to simplify the selection of forms within the filters.

Hint

To make it easy for managers to select the correct templates, simply create a dataset group for each yearly process.

For example, you could create a dataset group called 2023 Process. Then, you can add the form templates from the 2023 review process for all products.

In the filter panel, managers will see a group called 2023 Process. When managers select this group, they select the correct 2023 form templates for all products. They do not need to know the appropriate individual form templates.

Choose filter types under People Filter.

The people filter allows the admin to decide which of the three standard filters + 15 custom filters should appear in dashboards and tiles.

Manage Date Ranges

Choose Manage Date Ranges in the Manage Dashboards tab.

In Manage Dashboards, choose Manage Date Ranges to create a new date range.

Note

You cannot manage date ranges in the Report Center.

Date Filters Video Tutorial

Select the link Create and Apply a Date Filter to view the demonstration.

Select Create New Date Range.

Choose Create New Date Range.

Complete the details under Edit Date Range and Date Range Values, as explained in the text.

Fill in Date Range Name, Labels for each selectable range, and Date From/Date To.

A typical example of how to use predefined date ranges is to create a date range for each year's review process.

You can call the date range 2023 review process and specify a start and end date.

Then, report consumers (managers) do not have to know when the actual review process was. They just choose the date range named 2023 review process and the dashboard automatically filters forms by that date range.

You can also create a predefined date range for each fiscal year, fiscal quarter, annual year, and annual quarter.
