Workstation Applications

Workstation Application

If you now want to display or edit a file within or outside of your document info record, you need the workstation applications. These define the necessary programs in combination with the front-end type that you have already learned earlier.

Work with Workstation Applications

Introduction

Up to now, you have worked with the workstation applications delivered by SAP. These are used to use the correct programs for displaying or changing the correct file type.

A new CAD system is now implemented in your company, which has file types that cannot be displayed or changed with the existing workstation applications. Therefore, you decide to create a new workstation application.

Task 1: Create a new Workstation Application for BMP files

In the first task, you create a new workstation application. For easier understanding, use the BMP file type. For this file type, you also assign the appropriate programs.

Now display the video that shows the creation of a new workstation application in Customizing.

Task 2: Test your new WS Application inside a Document

You then open your document again, which you created in exercise before. There you will associate your new Workstation application with an existing file, store the file in the secure storage area and work with the display and edit program.

The following video shows you how to use the workstation application in the document.

Task 3: Create a new Workstation Application for Office Integration

After you have made first settings for a bitmap file, you now also want to make necessary settings for Office Integration.

Now display the video that shows the creation of an Office Integration in Customizing.

Task 4: Test your new Office Integration inside a document

Finally, check the Office Integration in the document. You assign a Word document and display and change it in the document.

The following video shows you how to use the Office Integration inside your document.
