This lesson covers configuring COI generation rules in the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution. It explains how to create rules using sequential or random patterns, and manage their activation and deactivation.
Configuring the Setup of a COI Generation
Objective
Introduction
COI Generation Rules
In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the COI/COC tab or use Configure COI Generation Rules in the open search section to access it. During COI generation, this app drives the parameters to follow like Character limit, pattern like Sequential or Random.
- Sequential - The COI number is picked based on the starting sequence number and ending sequence number
- Random - the COI number is determined randomly based on the character position type

Configuring COI Generation Rules
Sequential Pattern
Click on Create as pointed to in the figure above on how to create a new entry.
The Configuration is different based on the COI ID Pattern.
For Sequential COI ID pattern:
- Unique ID of 10 characters
- COI ID pattern that represents sequential
- Default rule check box (if marked 'Yes' this entry is determined by default if there are multiple COI generation rules are active)
- ID limit character - to suggest the number of characters are allowed in the COI ID
- Starting and Ending sequence numbers - the COI ID is incremented by one from the starting sequence number till the ending sequence number is consumed

Random Pattern
For Random COI ID pattern:
- Unique ID of 10 characters
- COI ID pattern that represents random
- Default rule check box (if marked 'Yes' this entry is determined by default if there are multiple COI generation rules are active)
- ID limit character - to suggest the number of characters are allowed in the COI ID
- ID Character Position Mapping - this is to specify the number and type of characters to be used in the ID
- Position Type represents weather it's a Fixed value or Numeric or a Alphanumeric character per position
- Value carries the fixed character if position type is selected as Fixed value
- An example of COI with random generation rule RG57E7DJ1, in this case, the first two positions are fixed with characters R and G, the remaining 7 characters are picked randomly based on the position type marked as Numeric or Alphanumeric

Activation and Deactivation
When a new COI generation rule is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the generation rule can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.
