You will explore the essential concepts and configurations related to Flow Section Types, a key component of the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution. You will learn how to create and manage these flow sections, understand the difference between Goods Flow and Flow Node categories, and discover the role of Location Rules in mapping the organization's locations.
Configuring the Setup of a Flow Definitions
Objective
Introduction
Flow Section Types
In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Configuration tab or use Configure Flow Section Types in the open search section to access it. The Flow Section Type is used to specify the flow steps throughout the Supply Chain using the Category.

Configuring Flow Section Types
Click on Create as pointed to in the figure above on how to create a new entry.
The Configuration consists of the following:
- Unique ID of 20 Characters
- Description of 250 Characters
- Checkbox to mark Processing Activity relevant
- Checkbox to mark Shipment mandatory
- Address types of Pickup Address, Delivery Address and Main Address
- Location types of Pickup and Delivery location
The category suggests how the goods are handled:
- Goods Flow that suggests how a Biospecimen or Finished product is shipped, this controls whether a Shipment is required. If shipment is required the subsequent Delivery Address Type and Delivery Location type should be filled.
- Flow Node suggests a step in the supply chain, like pickup or delivery of Biospecimen or Finished product, and it applies to the manufacturing step too. This controls whether a Process order is required and the subsequent main address pickup address types should be filled.
This Goods Flow and Flow Nodes are combined together to build the Flow version that drives the process from Biospecimen to Finished Product.

Activation and Deactivation
When a new Flow Node is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the Flow Node can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.

Location Rules
In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Configuration tab or use Configure Location Rules in the open search section to access it. The Location Rule is a Rule that maps the organization to one of the location types, such as FromLocation(Pickup) or ToLocation(Dropoff).

Configuring Location Rules
Click on Create as pointed to in the figure above on how to create a new entry.
The Configuration consists of the following:
- Unique ID of 40 Characters
- Description of 250 Characters
- Entity that describes the process where this is used like Shipment, Task, Approval, ProcessingNodeDetails and so on…,
- Location ID to derive From or To Location ID
- Location Type to derive from or To Location Types

Activation and Deactivation
When a new Location Rule is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the Location Rule can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.
