A variance on a chart shows the difference between versions of an account or to show the difference between time periods.
Review the Help Portal for more information on Variances in Charts.
In this lesson add variances to the Numeric Point Charts, to show the difference between 2023 and 2022 values as percentages.
After completing the lesson, your story (in edit mode) should look similar to:

You have completed the following units and lessons:
If you did not complete the prerequisite units, you can continue from a pre-created sample story.
Please create a copy of MyStory - Select - Variance in your private My Files folder.
From the Navigation Bar click Files, and search for MyStory - Select - Variance.

Check the box, and click the Copy To icon from the Files Toolbar.

Save a copy to your private folder.
Click on My Files and name your story with your username _MyStory, update Description, then click OK.

Add a variance to the Numeric Point Chart and compare Sales Revenue of 2023 with 2022.
Open your story in edit mode if not already.
Locate _MyStory from the navigation bar at Files -> My Files, or Stories -> Recent Files.

Select Edit.

Open the Right Side Panel (Builder, Styling) from the View menu in the Top Toolbar, if not already open.

Select the Sales Revenue Numeric Point Chart.

In the Builder tab, expand Chart Add-Ons, and select Variance.

Edit COMPARE (A). Use the existing configuration of the Numeric Point Chart, Sales Revenue filtered by 2023 Order Date.
For COMPARE (A), keep the account as Dynamic, and click + Add Version/Time.

Select Order Date from the dropdown.

Keep the default Current Time Interval.

Edit TO (B). Compare to Sales Revenue of the previous year.
For TO (B), keep the Account as Dynamic, as Sales Revenue is the assigned account.
Keep the Time as Order Date, and Previous Time Interval.

Display the variance as a percentage instead of a dollar value.
Select Percentage, and keep the default 2 decimal places.

Click Done.

Follow similar steps and add a variance to compare Gross Margin of 2023 with 2022.
Select the Gross Margin Numeric Point Chart.

In the Builder tab, expand Chart Add-Ons, and select Variance.

Edit COMPARE (A). Use the existing configuration of the Numeric Point Chart, Gross Margin filtered by 2023 Order Date.
For COMPARE (A), keep the account as Dynamic, and click + Add Version/Time.

Select Order Date from the dropdown.

Keep the default Current Time Interval.

Edit TO (B). Compare to Gross Margin of the previous year.
For TO (B), keep the Account as Dynamic, as Gross Margin is the assigned account.
Keep the Time as Order Date, and Previous Time Interval.

Display the variance as a percentage instead of a dollar value.
Select Percentage, and keep the default 2 decimal places.

Click Done.
Save your story.
