Performing a Cost Object Summarization

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to perform cost object summarization

Cost Object Summarization

The image shows a summarization hierarchy for data collection in a software system. It lists object types like production orders, sales orders, and projects on the left. The data collection process is depicted with an arrow pointing to hierarchical levels including Controlling Area, Sales Organization, and Material, represented by icons.

You can save cost object data permanently in summarization objects. The data in the summarization objects does not change. This means that current data must be added and summarized by a new run on a regular basis.

To execute a summarization, you need a predefined summarization technique (that is, the summarization hierarchy).

You use classification characteristics or master data to perform summarization.

Drilldown Report Along Summarization Hierarchy

The image displays a tree graphic structure with a blue top node and several gray child nodes underneath. It illustrates the use of a tree graphic for presenting structural information.

Hierarchy Graphics

The following reports use hierarchy graphics in Product Cost Controlling (CO-PC):

  • Summarized Analysis
  • Costed Multilevel BOM
  • Cost components
  • Sales Orders with Assigned Orders
  • Analyze Sales Orders

How to Perform Cost Object Summarization

Summary

  • Save cost object data permanently in summarization objects.
  • Summarization objects require regular updates with current data.
  • Use predefined summarization techniques, like summarization hierarchy.
  • Classification characteristics or master data are used for summarization.
  • Hierarchy graphics are used in Product Cost Controlling reports.
