Processing Confirmations and Triggering a Workflow for Variances

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Process individual and collective confirmations
  • Analyze variances and actual capacity requirements

Confirmation Options

Business Example

In the execution phase of your project, you use confirmations to document internal services that have already been performed and record the processing status of activities. You can also use the Cross-Application Time Sheet to record time data.

Confirmations document the processing status of activities. Using confirmations you can enter forecasts for the remaining work and duration to define how the project will progress. Various business transactions are executed automatically using confirmations, for example, posting actual costs, actual dates, actual labor and, if applicable, changing the activity status.

Individual and Collective Confirmations

Customizing Confirmations

Confirmation Parameters

  • Default Values

    • Final confirmation

    • Post material

    • Propose dates

    • Propose service

    • Milestone dates automatic

  • Checks

    • Dates in future

    • Work deviation

    • Duration deviation

  • Logs/Workflow

    • Actual costs

    • Goods movements

    • Work workflow

    • Duration workflow

Parameters for Scheduling

  • Scheduling

    • Shift order

  • Deviations: Cause

    • Status

  • Field Selection: Screen Group

    • Modifiable fields

    • Influential fields

When confirming, a final confirmation is proposed automatically. Confirmations may be saved with confirmation dates in the future. In the confirmation parameters, specify the following settings on the basis of the plant and network type:

  • Specify whether the error log for cost determination is displayed

  • Specify percentages for permitted work and duration variances

During the confirmation, you can enter reasons for plan data variances. In Customizing, you can define appropriate deviation causes and, if required, link them with the user status.

You can make a field selection for the confirmation screens based on influencing fields (such as network type, network profile, or control key). The field selection allows you, for example, to hide the fields you do not need and to identify them as display fields.

Variances and Actual Capacity Requirements

Actual Capacity Requirements

Screenshot showing Actual Capacity Requirements settings, with fields for capacity category, determination of actual capacity requirements, and profiles for capacity evaluation.

As of Release 4.5A, you can determine the actual capacity requirements, which you can access from the confirmation. In the extended evaluations for capacity planning, you can then compare the planned capacity requirements with the actual capacity requirements and display the remaining capacity (the difference).

To determine the remaining capacity, you need to activate the actual capacity requirements in the capacity detail screen of the work center and the actual capacity requirements in the extended capacity evaluation being used.
