SAP SuccessFactors Continuous Performance Management Integration

Continuous Performance Management (CPM) can be integrated with several modules: Goal Management, Career Development Planning, Performance Management, Calibration, and Platform (Home Page). The table below explains those integrations as well as other features integrated into CPM.

Goal Management

Activities can be linked to Performance Goals. With the latest Goal Management version, the integration is automatic.

On the goal details, there is a Linked Activities section, where activities can be created.

When activities are completed, they can be turned into achievements.

From the View by Performance Goal tab in the Activities view, you can complete the following actions:

  • Filter activities linked to goals per Goal Plan template.
  • Edit the Activity details, to link to more goals, change the linked goals, request feedback or post an update.
  • Drag and drop linked activities between different goals.
  • Create a new Goal from scratch for any Performance Goal Plan template.
  • Edit and Delete Goals.

Permissions over actions on goals in Continuous Performance Management are consistent with the Goal Plan permissions configuration. Any action taken on a goal in Continuous Performance Management will also be reflected in the respective goal plan.

Career Development

Activities can be linked to Development Goals, with the latest Goal Management version, the integration is automatic.

Like performance goals, the Linked Activities section allows creating activities on the Development Goal details.

From the View by Development Goal tab in the Activities view, you can complete the following actions:

  • Filter activities linked to goals per Development Plan template.
  • Edit the Activity details, to link to more development goals, change the linked goals, request feedback or post an update.
  • Drag and drop linked activities between different development goals.

The Continuous Performance Page can be accessed directly from the mentee card to create 1:1 channels between mentors and mentees for ongoing meetings and activities.

Performance ManagementAchievements (completed activities) can be integrated with Performance Management form templates. In a Performance Goals and/or Development Goals section, you can display an Achievements tab. Within that tab, the achievements are recorded from completed activities during the performance review period. The Achievements tab can be permissioned with the assistance of a consultant, and the CPM data will respect RBP.

Note

If using the latest experience for Performance Management forms, Activities will also be displayed in the form, not just Achievements. The Linked Activities area in the Performance form will show the same data as in the goal plan or development plan.
Configuration for Integration with Performance Forms

Navigate to Form Template Settings.

Select one of your PM form templates. There are several options:

  • Enable Achievements tab in Performance Goal Section.
  • Display Achievement Feedback for Performance Goal Achievements.
  • Enable Achievements tab in Performance Development Goal Section.
  • Display Achievement Feedback for Development Goal Achievements.
Calibration

A navigation link to Continuous Performance Management and can be turned on in Calibration Templates. The sessions based on the template will show an Achievements link from the subject options.

The ability to access CPM from Calibration for a specific subject might depend on the target population of the role. Those Calibration roles, such as Participant or Owner that do not have access to the subject’s activities or achievements in CPM will be unable to access this information.

Configuration for Integration with Calibration

Navigate to Manage Calibration Templates.

  • Choose the Data tab.
  • Select Others if it has not already been selected.
  • Select the Allow Access to Continuous Performance Management Achievements option.
Home Page

The Home Page has some integration points with Continuous Performance Management and Continuous Feedback.

  • Quick Actions: include an option to Create Activities, Request Feedback, and Give Feedback directly from the Home page.
  • Engagement Card (For You Today): An Activities card will trigger as a to-do item any time a direct manager updates an activity for an employee (like posting a comment). The Employee will be notified and can decide to dismiss the notification or drill down into the activity for further details.
  • Feedback requests received will also be displayed in the For You Today section, as well as in the Task Center (To-Do Panel)
Talent Intelligence Hub

Talent Intelligence Hub uses AI-assisted capabilities to infer and recommend skills to employees in their Growth Portfolio using CPM data. When an employee enters details in the achievements, activities, or feedback section in CPM, this feature infers skills based on the employee's inputs.

If the inferred skill exists in the Attributes Library of Talent Intelligence Hub, it is displayed as a recommended skill in the employee's Growth Portfolio. Employees can add the recommended skill to their Growth Portfolio or reject the recommendation.

Configurations and Permissions Needed:

  • An SAP AI Units license is required.
  • An administrator enables the Assisted Skill Recommendation Using Continuous Performance Management Data setting on the AI Services Administration page.
  • Administrators need the following permission in Manage Permission Roles: Administrator PermissionsManage AI CapabilitiesAI Services Administration.
  • End users will need the following access permission granted in Manage Permission Roles: User Permissions → AI AccessAssisted Skill Recommendations Using Continuous Performance Management Data.
