Managing Proxy

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Explain Proxy and its management.
  • Define the in-product support and help and tutorials process.

Proxy and Proxy Management

SAP SuccessFactors includes a proxy function that allows one employee to act on behalf of another. This function is useful to both end users and administrators. Administrators use it extensively for troubleshooting, while end users can use it for delegation. The system maintains an audit log of who performs a particular action on behalf of another user.

  • Administrators can configure company-wide proxy settings.
  • Administrators can bulk import proxy assignments.
  • Users can assign proxies to act on their behalf for specific modules during specific time periods.

Administrators make Proxy assignments in Admin CenterProxy Management (shown in the figure below).

Proxy Import

Administrators can also use a CSV import file to add, edit, or remove multiple proxy assignments simultaneously. The Proxy Import is found in Admin Center, shown in the figure below. This screenshot shows the Proxy Import screen that administrators use to import a CSV file to assign proxies in the system.

Personal Settings - Become Proxy

When a user has been assigned as someone's proxy, they can use proxy access to access their account and act on their behalf. This setting is found under the Name MenuSettingsProxyBecome Proxy. This screenshot shows where a user goes in their Settings to become a proxy for another user.

Note

More details are available on the SAP Help Portal in the Proxy Access guide.

Built-In Support

Built-In Support is used primarily by administrators and requires an SAP Universal ID with linked S/P-user IDs to access most functionality, like Support case creation and monitoring. People without an S/P-user ID can only use the search function and sometimes see recommended links. Built-In Support opens in a side panel on any page. You can access it using the Built-In Support icon in the page header. To access the Built-In Support side panel, you must have Company System and Logo Settings permission.
