Setting up People Profile

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Explain People Profile navigation and the structure.
  • Describe Profile header and the options within Profile header.
  • Benefits of Badges in the Profile.

People Profile

SAP SuccessFactors People Profile connects employees and supports talent decisions by delivering relevant, community-enriched employee information through an integrated repository. People Profile is also sometimes referred to as Live Profile.

With People Profile, you can view and edit a person's entire profile on one simple, consolidated page and take immediate action. You can quickly find the most important or most recent information and drill down to see more detail when needed. The responsive SAP Fiori design means that People Profile adjusts to fit your device, for optimal viewing on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

People Profile Navigation

To navigate to the Employee Profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the upper left-hand corner of your instance, click the Main Navigation Menu and choose My Employee File.
  2. This takes you to your People Profile.

When you are in People Profile, you can scroll up and down to navigate the different sections. You can also use the navigation panel underneath the Profile Header to easily go to a particular section in the profile so that you do not have to scroll too much.

When many fields are in a block, the block will display only some of the data by default. A Show More button will reveal the other fields in that block. Then, the button will be called Show Less to fold back the block as it was by default.

People Profile Structure

The People Profile page comprises the Profile header and one or more profile sections(in the figure below, see example sections: Profile, Scorecard, Notes, and History).

Each section consists of one or more subsections (in the figure below, see example subsection: Personal Information).

Each subsection, in turn, consists of either one or two blocks (in the figure below, see example block: Personal Information fields with details).

There is a button Show More to expand all the fields. There is also an option to expand all fields by default.

Profile Header

The People Profile includes a configurable page header that displays the profile photo and basic information about an employee.

As you scroll down the page, the header then reduces into a collapsed state and sticks to the top of the page, for easier navigation, as shown here.

This screenshot shows an example of a People Profile page header.

Profile Header Options

The header fields are configurable. We can, for example, include or not the photo (considered as a field), the Username, the Title, the Department, the Division, the Location, the Time Zone, etc. The name cannot be removed. We can also add up to three custom fields.

Some options can be enabled or not:

  • Ability to edit the background image
  • Ability to upload a video for About Me
  • Ability to upload an audio file for My Name to help people with the pronunciation
  • Ability to enter an introductory text
  • Ability to show the percent complete

When updating the background image in the header, users can choose from a library or upload their own image. Administrators can also prevent end users from uploading their own images.

Badges in the Profile

Recognition is a good motivator. Employees can recognize each other by giving badges outside the SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Compensation Management process. This can be done in the Badges block in the People Profile.

Administrators can create custom badges in the Admin Center from Action SearchManage Badges.

Up to 20 badges can be enabled. This includes custom and predefined badges.

Once a badge is given, it cannot be edited. Only the employee who gave or received the badge can remove the badge. Users cannot add badges to their own profiles.
