Objective
After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure the Adaptive Processing Server.
Adaptive Processing Server Properties
Server Properties In CMC
An Adaptive Processing Server (APS) can host a lot of services, so a lot of server properties can be updated for this type of server in CMC.
- Considerations:
- The default Adaptive Processing Server contains a lot of default services with general and specific properties.
- If you have multiple Adaptive Processing Server running on SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 2025, you will find the Service Startup Timeout (seconds) general property in each of them.
The following table describes the Adaptive Processing Server Properties.
General Properties
| Property | Description | Default Value |
|---|
| Service Startup Timeout (seconds) | Specifies the amount of time, in seconds, that the server will wait for services to start. If a service fails to start within the time specified, there are two possible reasons: The service failed, for example, because a needed resource such as a database couldn't be found, or the service has come across a port conflict. The service couldn't start within the specified time, for example, because the system is too slow.
To find the reason, check the server log file. If the service couldn't start within the time specified, consider increasing this value. | The default value is 1200 seconds. |
Adaptive Processing Server Metrics
Server Metrics In CMC
An Adaptive Processing Server (APS) can host a lot of services. Each of them generates metrics that can be viewed in CMC.
- Considerations:
- As an Adaptive Processing Server embeds a lot of services by default, there are a lot of service properties and metrics.
- These metrics depend on the following embedded services:
- Adaptive Processing Server metrics
- Client Auditing Proxy Service metrics
- Platform Search Service metrics
- Adaptive Connectivity Services metrics
- Monitoring Service metrics
The following link describes the server metrics that appear on the Metrics screen for Adaptive Processing servers:

Configure the Adaptive Processing Server
In this exercise, you will configure the Adaptive Processing Server.
Summary
- The Adaptive Processing Server has general properties that can be configured, such as the Service Startup Timeout.
- The Service Startup Timeout property defines the duration the server waits for services to start, with a default value of 1200 seconds.
- Failure of a service to start within the specified time may be due to resource issues, port conflicts, or system slowness.
- If a service cannot start within the specified time, it is recommended to check the server log file and consider increasing the timeout value.
- The server also provides metrics that can be viewed on the Metrics screen for Adaptive Processing servers.
