Managing Basic User Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explore additional options to manage the user data in Platform

Configuring General Display Name

The General Display Name ensures the consistent display of employee name across SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite. From 1H 2025 Release, this feature is enabled automatically for all customers. If no name format was defined already, the field is pre-populated with full name (combination of first name, middle name and last name).

A standard element displayName is used to store the General Display Name. This element is always readable and cannot be configured or modified in Succession Data Model or Manage Business Configuration. To make sure that employees' names are shown in a format that suits your company's need, you can follow the below steps to define and configure the specific name format.

Some of the areas that support the General Display Name are:

  • Platform (User Search, Employee Profile, Home Page, Manage Documents, MDF, Manage Documents).
  • Performance & Goals
  • 360 Reviews
  • Reporting and Analytics
  • Career Development Planning
  • Employee Central (Hire, Pending Hires, Workflows, Position Management, Business Configuration)
  • Learning
  • Onboarding
  • Recruiting
  • Time Tracking

You can find more information on the following link Important Notes About General Display Name Adoption

The steps to configure are as follows:

  1. Create a new picklist with the code PersonPronouns. You can add the picklist values using this example:
    • H: He/Him
    • S: She/Her
