Migrating from Job Description Manager to Job Profile Builder

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the migration process from the legacy system to Job Profile Builder.

Migration to Job Profile Builder

Once the Job Profile Builder switch JDM v2.0/Skills Management is enabled in ProvisioningCompany Settings, there's an additional option to Migrate Families/Roles/Competencies from Job Description Manager, if this job architecture framework was already used to manage this type of content.

Note

This is only relevant for existing customers that were using JDM and need to migrate their content to JPB. New customers using Job Profile Builder from the beginning of their implementation can configure all the data directly via Job Profile Builder options.

To make the migration process between Job Description Manager and Job Profile Builder easier, there are some checks available in the Check Tool, which flags any issues with the migration process and provide instructions on how to resolve them. Navigate to Check Tool by using Action search.

To complete this migration, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Check Tool using Action Search.
  2. On the System Health and the Migration tabs, select Application - Job Description Manager, to find the available checks.
  3. Once you run the checks, there might be checks with an Error. You can troubleshoot them and some of these checks will have a Quick Fix option, to resolve it easier. This example shows an issue with invalid job codes, which needs to be resolved prior to migrating content to JPB
  4. Once the checks show No Errors, navigate to ProvisioningCompany Settings, and below the JDM v2.0/Skills Management switch, there's a field to type the username. Make sure to select an admin user. The Migrate button will then become selectable. Save changes providing the Company ID and start the migration.Checkboxes for settings like JDM v2.0/Skills Management are available, with a dropdown highlighting an admin user and a Migrate button to start the migration
  5. Navigate back to the instance, in the Scheduled Job Manager, and on the Job Monitor tab, you should see a job type JDM Old to New Sync which is the one that was submitted from Provisioning in the previous step. Once it is completed, select the option to View Details and identify possible issues. The image shows the job type JDM Old to New Sync that attempts to migrate the JDM content into JPB
  6. On the details, if you see an Error occurred on the logs, you can download a CSV file that will show up the specific error experienced on the migration. The status of the job can be downloaded in a CSV file to identify the issue details.
  7. Some of the issues might need to make corrections on the Competencies or Job Families and Roles. This is only possible from Provisioning .Once Job Profile Builder was enabled, the JDM tools are no longer available in the instance to make these corrections. The image shows Competency Libraries from Provisioning
