The Digital Revolution Changes Everything…
A Well-Known Situation for the Military Leaders?
- Transforming battlefield – Network Centric Warfare becomes real
- Digital warfare will impact everyone
- New technologies are emerging faster
- Military and civilian staff, as well as external members of the Defense Eco-System, are expecting a new kind of work, collaboration experience
- On the impact of Big Data; Sir Nicholas Houghton, Chief of Staff, UK Defence Ministry noted:
"Few people genuinely understand the exponential change that is being brought about […] and even fewer people can comprehend the impact it will have on capability; and particularly on capability as we currently, doggedly, and determinedly cling to assessing it."

Defense is an "industry of industries". Defense Forces have hospitals, aviation, R&D, own real-estate agencies, own logistics bodies, and face new demands like "gender equality", "lower CO2 footprint", "blackout resilience", and of course the wide field of "trust".
Defense Forces still have to operate, when all other parts of a society are breaking down… (sounds familiar from 2020?) autarky, resilience, sustainability are key to them if they are called in as "ultima ratio".
