Configuring Translations and Job Alerts

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure translations and job alerts.

Translations Overview

The ToolsTranslation menu allows you to override default (system) text for site elements for any enabled locale.

To update a translation or label, click the text you would like to change, and then enter the new text in the text box that appears. After you've changed the text, it appears in the translation grid. Default text appears in italics, but new labels appear as regular text.

You can filter the list using the Group or Resource Key columns. The value in the Group column corresponds to the site element where the text appears.

You can import and export your custom translations from this page. This action is performed separately from the site import and export.

The word "remote" in a job search needs to be entered in the keyword box, not under Search by Location. In this example, Best Run wants to relabel the keyword search box to Search by Keyword / Remote positions.

This is how this system text was modified from ToolsTranslations.

Modify System Text (Translations)

Business Example

During their implementation, Best Run made some replacements to the system text in Career Site Builder. You will make an additional change.

Steps

  1. View the search bar on your Best Run site. Notice the heading "Search by Keyword / Remote Positions". By default, this search field is labeled "Search by Keyword". It was updated in the Translations menu in Career Site Builder. You will update it again now.

  2. Navigate to CSBToolsTranslations.

  3. Click on the box for the first text string, representing Search by Keyword. Note that it was already overridden with Search by Keyword/Remote positions.

  4. Change the Override Text to Search by Keyword or for Remote Positions and click Confirm.

  5. Scroll down the list and notice that text strings that have not been replaced are shown in italics, and replacements are shown in a standard font.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Refresh your Best Run site in a different browser window. Notice the replacement of the Keyword search label in the search bar to Search by Keyword or for Remote Positions.

  8. Return to CSBToolsTranslations.

  9. Notice that the Locale of (en_US) English is selected at the top. From the dropdown arrow, also select (es_ES) Spanish. System text in Career Site Builder can be replaced for any enabled language.

Job Alerts Settings

All Recruiting email templates are configured in Admin Center except for the job alert email template. Job alert emails are enabled from Career Site BuilderSite ConfigurationSite Information and are configured from CSBSite ConfigurationSite Information.

The default email address that job alerts are sent from is auto-populated. Email address example from a stage environment: customer@noreply17.stage.jobs2web.com. When exporting from stage and before importing to production, make sure this URL is updated. See this KBA for more information: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0003008696

When Use Locale for Job Alerts is enabled, candidates receive an email only for those jobs that match their chosen locale. See the Localize the Career Site Builder Site section for additional information.

Job Alert Email Template Configuration

Job alert emails are enabled from CSBSite ConfigurationSite Information.

Both the Subject and Body fields support the use of tokens, which are listed on the right column.

Add a Logo to the Email Template

To include your logo in the job alert email:

Open the CSB career site and right-click on the logo. Select Open image in new tab.

Copy the URL from the top of the page and insert it into the Body of the email template.

Job Alert Email Example

This is an example of a properly implemented job alert email.

To create the example email layout, you would update the pre-configured code to match this example, including replacing the specific customer URLs as highlighted.

Summary

  • Customize site text per locale: Use Tools → Translation to override default system text for any enabled locale by clicking a label and entering new text; defaults show in italics and your overrides appear as regular text in the translation grid.
  • Filter translations using the Group (where the text appears on the site) or Resource Key columns to quickly locate the right site element.
  • You can import and export custom translations from the Translation page, and this is separate from the overall site import/export process.
  • Job alert emails are enabled and configured in Career Site Builder → Site Configuration → Site Information (unlike most Recruiting email templates managed in Admin Center).
