Updating Global Settings

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure site-wide global settings and cookie consent management.

Global Settings

Using Career Site Builder admin, you can update the configuration for the site as a whole using the Global Settings, Global Styles, and Search Grid menus. These settings control site-wide elements such as headers, footers, button colors, and more. Additional site-wide settings are located under Tools, Settings, and other menus.

See the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting: Recruiter Experience (HR831) course for additional descriptions not included in this course.

Site Menu

From the Site menu, you can adjust the font settings and the padding between components. Note that font types and sizes can also be changed for individual components.

Custom Fonts

Customers who own fonts may use them on your CSB career site. Ensure that the font is the file type ttf or otf. The maximum size limit for uploading custom fonts is now 50 MB.

Note

Note that many free fonts have restrictions regarding embedding the font in an application; refer to the license information provided with the font.

To use a custom font:

  1. Select Open Custom Font Editor and select the + icon.
  2. Upload your font.
  3. To use the font, select the appropriate font name under Font Name.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the font is not replaced in all instances, check for font overrides on the configured page components.
  • If the font appears as Times New Roman, it is not compatible. Upload a different font.

Site Maps

Sitemaps are a list of the URLs on a website that are available for search engine spiders to crawl. After your CSB site has been moved to Production, the functional consultant is responsible to submit the sitemap links to both Google and Bing webmasters.

Once the sitemaps are in place, no additional action is required, unless you change the domain of your career site, such as a brand name change. In this case, please follow the instructions in this knowledge base article: https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap/support/knowledge/en/2887940.

Cookie Manager Menu

A cookie is a small piece of data that's stored on the visitors' computer by the web browser, which tracks, personalizes, and saves information about their preferences as they visit your career site. Career Site Builder allows you to enable the cookie banner, which notifies visitors that you use cookies, as well as configure the cookie consent manager, which allows visitors to accept or decline the use of specific cookies while they visit your career site.

The Cookie Manager page under Career Site BuilderAppearanceGlobal Settings replaces the limited functionality of the Site Banner page. The renamed Legacy Site Banner page is being retained for organizations who need to revise site banner settings, but aren't ready to configure their cookie banner and cookie consent settings.

A screenshot of the Cookie Manager page under Global Settings shows options to configure cookies banner settings and cookie policy settings.

Career Site Builder allows you to configure the following:

  • The cookie banner, which appears at the bottom of the page when visitors first go to your career site. (See the screen capture below.)
  • The cookie consent manager, which appears as a dialog when visitors choose to modify their preferences from the cookie banner. The dialog lets them view descriptions of the cookies used on your career site and accept or decline them.
  • The ability to place a link to the cookie consent manager in either the header or footer of every page in your career site.

Cookie Manager Permission

The Cookie Consent Manager is 100% configurable. All of the text and links can be edited. The font and colors in the cookie banner are inherited from Global Styles settings. Customers can add their own cookie integrations with custom JavaScript. Note that the JavaScript permission under CSBUsersRoles now also includes Cookie Manager.

If Career Site Builder's role-based permissions are enabled, set this permission for any CSB users who should have edit access. Otherwise, all users set up with Recruiter SSO can access the Cookie Manager.

Cookie Manager Sections

The Cookie Manager page contains these sections:

  • Cookie Banner Settings: The cookie banner is always displayed at the bottom of the career site. Notice that the Enable Reject All Cookies option is disabled by default. Enable it to display a Reject All Cookies button in the banner. If desired, the buttons and text on the cookie banner can be renamed.
  • Cookie Policy Settings: Intro text and buttons can be renamed.
  • Required Cookies Section: Required cookies cannot be disabled.
  • Functional Cookies Section: Two integrations are provided by default: Vimeo and YouTube. Candidates can enable/disable those third-party integrations, which means that if the site contains videos hosted by Vimeo or YouTube, the candidate will not be able to view them. Also note that the advertising cookies that are normally dropped by Vimeo and YouTube have been disabled.
  • Performance Cookies Section: No cookies are provided by default, but custom integrations can be configured.
  • Advertising Cookies Section Four integrations are provided by default: AddThis, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and LinkedIn. Note that, for example, if LinkedIn is disabled, the advertising cookies won’t be dropped, but the integration with LinkedIn will not work either.
  • Google Tag Manager doesn’t use cookies by default, but if the customer has an advanced integration, the option is there to enable cookies for it.

Custom integrations can also be configured.

Modify Cookie Preferences

If enabled, currently the Cookie Banner is always displayed at the bottom of the page. Candidates can select Accept All Cookies, Reject All Cookies, or Modify Cookie Preferences. Selecting Modify Cookie Preferences opens the Cookie Consent Manager, where the candidate can select which cookies they accept.

Cookies are enabled on the right side of the page. Select the links for more information about each of the third-party cookies. For example, clicking the Cookie Table link under LinkedIn lets candidates view the cookies LinkedIn drops on the career site.

A screenshot of a Web page section titled Advertising Cookies shows cookie options for AddThis, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and LinkedIn, with toggle switches to enable or disable the cookies.

Cookie Consent Manager Header/Footer Links

A new link type has been added so that candidates can reopen the Cookie Consent Manager after dismissing the cookie banner. See the Creating Headers and Footers section for details.

Cookie Manager - Additional Resources

See the Recruiting guide on the SAP Help Portal (Setting Up and Maintaining SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting) for more information about the Cookie Manager. Start with the Cookies and Careers Sites topic.

JavaScript Menu

From the Header and Footer JavaScript area, you can enter custom JavaScript for tracking purposes, for example, Google Analytics, landing page optimization, third-party analytics, and so on. Do not enter any other information into the JavaScript boxes; other uses are not supported.

Summary

  • CSB admins can change overall site configuration using Appearance menus (Global Settings, Global Styles, Search Grid) plus other site-wide settings under Tools/Settings; these control elements like headers/footers, button colors, fonts, and spacing (with possible component-level overrides).
  • Customers can upload licensed custom fonts (.ttf/.otf, up to 50 MB) via the Custom Font Editor; troubleshoot by checking component overrides or replacing incompatible fonts (e.g., if it renders as Times New Roman). After moving to Production, the consultant submits sitemaps to Google and Bing; updates are only needed if the career site domain changes.
  • The Cookie Manager (replacing the older Site Banner functionality) lets organizations enable a cookie banner, configure a fully editable cookie consent manager dialog, and add a header/footer link to reopen it. E dit access may require the JavaScript/Cookie Manager role permission when role-based permissions are enabled.
