Utilizing Engagement Analytics for Menu & Search

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use Menu & Search Dashboard to analyze commonly searched terms.

Menu and Search

Recall from Builder I that the Menu & Search Dashboard allows you to see what your users are searching for and proactively implement WalkMe solutions.

The Menu & Search page is a great place to gain inspiration for future projects.

To navigate to the Menu & Search page in Insights, click Apps in the navigation menu on the left, then select Menu & Search.

The Menu & Search dashboard is displayed.

On the Menu & Search dashboard, see the number of Users who have opened the menu, total menu opens, and searches that have resulted in action.

Scroll to the bottom of the Menu & Search page to view common search terms entered into the Menu by your users.

The What are users searching for? section is helpful in determining what to build next. If a lot of your users are searching for content that is not available, build it into your next project.

The What are users searching for page is displayed.

Scroll to the bottom of the Menu & Search page to find this section titled:What are users searching for?

Note

If users aren't finding the correct resource, try adding keywords to your WalkMe content or try changing the title.

How to Add Keywords to Your Content

Add keywords to your previously built Eddie's Depot content given the Eddie's Depot Insights data from the Menu & Search page.

Scenario

The Eddie's Depot team wants to make sure users can easily find the information they are looking for.

They want to optimize the users' menu search by adding keywords to their content.

Step 1: Analyze the What are users searching for data on the Menu & Search page

For the purposes of this activity, we will use the precediing screenshot.

We see that the most common search term is shipping and that most searches for shipping resulted in an action - likely because of our Shipping & Returns Resource, that's great!

There are also quite a few searches for product request and help which did not result in an action by the user. These search terms could be routed to the Contact Support Smart Walk-Thru for the user to submit a product request or ask for help.

The cat scratcher searches did not result in an action, and Eddie's Depot currently calls these "Cat Poles", so it's possible users are having trouble finding them. We can add a Shuttle called Cat Scratchers to the Player Menu that takes the user to the Cat Poles section of the Eddies site when users search for cat scratcher.

For change email and order, we could create two separate Smart Walk-Thrus: one to direct users to the My Orders page and another to show users how to change their email on the My Account page.

For login, since we already have the login button on the home page, it seems that users might be missing it, so we can add a Shuttle to the login page to the Player Menu for users to easily click and navigate to the login page. What are users searching for Data on the Menu & Search Page is displaying.
Step 2: Quick Action: Let's Add keywords!

After analyzing the Menu & Search data, the quickest action item is to add keywords to our existing content.

The keywordsproduct request and help can be added to our Contact Support Smart Walk-Thru so let's navigate to the Contact Support Smart Walk-Thru in our Editor.

Once you click into the Smart Walk-Thru, click Settings at the bottom of the Editor.

Adding keywords to existing content is the easiest action.
Step 3: Enter in your keywords

Choose the Search Ranking tab, then enter each keyword and press Add after each.

You can also see WalkMes auto generated keywords for your content here.

Save your Smart Walk-Thru and Publish your changes.

Add keywords to improve search results.
Summary

Congrats! You've added keywords to a Smart Walk-Thru based on the data analyzed from the Menu & Search page in Insights.

We've also identified additional WalkMe content that can be created to help users find what they are searching for.
