Configuring Team Assignments

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Manage active team assignments of your players and staff members
  • Illustrate the impact of creating and managing team assignments

Manage Team Assignments

As highlighted in the introduction, managing the on boarding of new players and staff, as well as handling departures, is a key component of season preparation. In SAP Sports One, this involves overseeing the team assignments of both players and staff members.

In SAP Sports One, you can easily perform a season change through the admin section. The process is explained in detail in the unit Planning Season Change. In this unit, however, we will focus on smaller adjustments of team management, such as managing team assignments.

Note

To be able to manage team assignments you need to have for example the role of administrator or team manager and the corresponding permissions for Persons/Teams. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles and the corresponding permissions is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

Manage Team Assignments in Person Profile

If you want to manage active team assignments of a player or staff member you can do this in the person profile. Please note that we will provide more information on the person profile in the unit Managing Players in SAP Sports One.

Start by navigating to the player's profile and selecting General Information. From here, you can either add a new assignment or edit existing ones.

To add a new assignment, simply click on Add Assignment. From there, select the appropriate assignment type to distinguish between assignments for players, staff members, or loan players. Alternatively, you can indicate if the person holds a different role within or outside of your club. Next, fill in the assignment details, such as the team, relevant area, membership dates, and additional team information. Once everything is entered, don’t forget to save your changes to ensure your updates are recorded.

To edit the assignments of a player or staff member, simply hover your cursor over the relevant line and click the Edit Assignment icon. Make any necessary changes, and don’t forget to save your updates.

This method allows for quick adjustments, whether during the season or as part of the preseason preparation phase. Alternatively, you can make changes for the new season through the admin area, a process that will be explained in detail in the unit Planning Season Change.

Note

If a player currently has an active team assignment, they will also be available in the player list for the teams and can be selected in various places within the SAP Sports One system, such as for training, questionnaires and performance tests.

Analysis of Internal Teammembers

If all team assignments for your team are properly maintained, you will have the option to perform comprehensive analysis at the team level. For example, at the start of the season, you might want to clearly present which players belong to which team - essentially creating an internal squad list.

This would allow you to display all master data for your players in one place. Adjustments to player master data are covered in more detail in the lesson Initiating of Player Profile. However, an example of such a squad list with player master data could look like this:

With this analysis, you can also identify for which players there are still incomplete and missing master data recorded in SAP Sports One.

Note

Please note that in SAP Team One there is also the possibility for players to adjust their contact data using a self-service. More information in the lesson Initiating of Person Profile.
