Create Upcoming Season

Before you can start managing player assignments for the upcoming season and carry out the season change, you first need to create a new season in the Admin area.

Note

To be able to create a new season you need the role of Administrator or Team Manager and the corresponding permissions. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles and permissions is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

If you have the required permissions, you can create new season in the Admin area. Navigate to Settings and select Seasons. To create a new season, click on +Add Season.

Afterward enter a season name as well as a start and an end date for your new season. To confirm your entries, click on Save.

Manage Team Assignments

Managing team assignments is a crucial step when transitioning between seasons. During this process, some players leave the current team while new players join. Players may either move to a different team within the club or transfer to a completely different club. To accurately document this transition, SAP Sports One provides tools for managing team assignments.

Manage Loan and External Players

Managing Loan Player Team

Players are often loaned from one club to another. Managing the team assignments of these loaned players is also an important part of the season change process. If a loaned player remains with the team for another year, their assignment must be extended accordingly. If the loaned player leaves the club, their assignment needs to be updated. The management of team assignments also affects whether a player appears in the player list of your internal teams.

To manage loaned players more effectively, we recommend creating a separate team - for example, "Players on Loan". This helps you keep track of these players, for instance by analyzing their match performance or other statistics. By doing so, you can manage loaned players using the same season change process you use for internal teams. Just select the loan player team and follow the steps shown in the video.

Note

To be able to manage team assignments in regards of the season change, you need the role of Administrator or Team Manager and the corresponding permissions. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles and permissions is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

However, the assignments of loan players for a specific team can also be managed at Team Assignments. When choosing Show Departures, Loans, and Externals, the loan players will be displayed in the list, and you can manage their assignments as explained.

Managing External Players

In addition to managing team assignments for your internal players, you can also manage external players during the season change in the Admin area. To do this, select External Player Team Assignments. The system will then show a list of manually created players who either have no current team assignment or an inactive one - for example, because they were previously on loan.

This overview includes players you may have interacted with in various ways, such as conducting a performance test or adding them as participants in training sessions in the past.

To assign a player to a team for the upcoming season, go to Edit Assignments. You can search for and select any team within the system. If the required team is not available, you can create it. Be sure to maintain the position group and specify the exact position for the player. Finally, verify the players for whom a new team assignment needs to be created.

Note

The start and end date of the team assignment is the date of the current season.
