Working with Individual Object Permissions

  • Manage Individual Object Permissions in SAP Sports One

Scenarios for Individual Object Permissions

Data availability and consistency are critical for efficient operations and decision-making. In SAP Sports One, these principles are upheld through the Individual Object Permissions, ensuring that access to essential content is never disrupted.

Consider this common scenario: you or a colleague needs access to content created by someone who has left the club. Without proper permissions, this could lead to delays or lost information. Fortunately, the Individual Object Permissions allows authorized staff members to grant permissions for specific content, such as player notes, communication rooms and many more.

This functionality not only maintains the continuity of operations but also ensures that the right people have access to the right information at the right time, keeping your workflows smooth and data consistent.

Individual Object Permissions Management

To get started with managing Individual Object Permissions, you, as a person with the role of Admin, need to assign the role for Individual Permissions Admin to yourself or selected staff members. Navigate to Admin > Users and click the three dots next to a user. Select Roles and assign the role Individual Permissions Admin.

Next, coordinate with the SAP Sports One Data Security Officer at your club to enable activity logging within the permissions tool. This is a critical security measure, as all write actions (or optionally read and write actions) in the permissions tool must be logged. This logging ensures that the Data Security Officer can review any changes made to permissions.

As the Data Security Officer, proceed to Data Security > Access Log. From the Select Module drop down menu, choose Team Management. Click Edit Access Log, and for Permissions for various objects, select either Write or Read/Write. Save the settings to activate logging.

Once logging is enabled, you and other authorized users can manage permissions for individual objects as needed. For instance, you can grant yourself or a colleague permission to view a player note.

To do so, go to Admin > Individual Object Permissions > Permission Management. From the Object Type drop down menu, select the type of object or content for which you wish to edit permissions. Search for the specific object or content, hover over its name, and click the permissions button. You can now customize the permissions for the selected object, ensuring precise and secure access management.
