Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the main functionalities of SAP Identity Authentication Service regarding SAP Sports One user management

Manage SAP Sports One Users in SAP IAS

In the unit Handling System Administration and Data Security, we have already covered the SAP Identity Authentication Service and explained the administrative settings available in SAP IAS used for SAP Sports One. However, in this lesson, we will focus specifically on user management for SAP Sports One within the SAP IAS.

If you hold the admin role in SAP Sports One, you can open IAS directly from SAP Sports One by navigating to the user data and permission overview in the User area. From here, click on Open the list of users in the SAP Identity Provider.

Note

To gain access in IAS, you need separate permissions, specifically admin permissions in IAS. A detailed guide on how to add other admins in IAS can be found on SAP Help Portal.

Once you have the necessary permissions for IAS, you'll gain access to an overview of all users and administrators within the system. From this dashboard, you can import and export users, create groups, and manage other user-related areas with ease.

When you click on the Users & Authorizations tab, you'll access the user management section. Here, you can search for specific users. By selecting a user, a dialog will open on the right side, displaying further information, such as user details, applications, and authentications.

One important aspect of IAS is managing the user details in the Details tab. Here, you can update and edit specific information, such as a user's email address. This is especially crucial because it's the only way to update the email address used for logging into SAP Sports One. Any changes to a player’s email address must be made here!

Additionally, other user details like personal information and contact details can also be adjusted in this Details section.

This isn’t all that can be done in IAS. In IAS, you can also view the status of user accounts and unblock them if they were previously locked.

Additionally, you can manage password settings, such as unlocking an account that has exceeded login attempts. Passwords can be reset here as well, with a notification email sent to the user. You also have the option to assign a new initial password if needed.

Lastly, IAS allows you to enable multifactor authentication, which is used for applications like SAP Sports One and SAP Analytics Cloud. All these options are available in the Authentication tab in IAS.

In addition to the IAS functions highlighted in this course, there are other administration options available. These settings and customizations are frequently used for managing SAP Sports One but covering them all here would go beyond the scope of this course. Keep in mind, that you can configure your Identity Provider details and credentials in the Admin section by clicking on Identity Provider in SAP Sports One.
