Optimizing Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to implement strategies to optimize and enhance Goal Management processes.

Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

When integrating Dynamic Teams and Goal Management, the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) methodology can be used to set meaningful goals and measure desired outcomes (Definition of Success) for goals that are not performance goals but a less formal type of team goal.

Dynamic Teams might include team members who are not hierarchically related but work towards the same OKRs with measurable key results and a target value considered to be a team success.

This screenshot shows Team goals using the OKR methodology, which can be used to set meaningful goals and measure desired outcomes.

Team members can link the Objective and Key Results to their goals from different Goal Plans.

Navigation between the Goal Plan and Dynamic Teams will be possible from either place.

After linking an OKR to a goal in a Goal Plan, you can see the linkage in the Link to Goals section in Dynamic Teams, and in the Linked OKRs section in the Goal Plan. See both options in the figures below.

More information about Dynamic Teams and the integration with Goal Management can be found in the SAP Help Portal Integrating Dynamic Teams with Goal Management.

The Link to Goals section from the OKRs is highlighted.
The Linked OKRs option from a Goal Plan is highlighted.

Check Tool

This administrator tool provides validation checks on admin-based configurations. The checks can detect issues and suggest resolutions without requiring you to raise a support ticket. Currently, it can run three validation checks for Goal Plan Templates:

  • Checking the XML has the attribute allow-group-goal is set to true when Group and/or Team Goals have been enabled in the system.
  • Checking if fields have been defined for specific permissions in the XML.
  • Checking if read/write permissions have been defined when the cascader role is enabled.
The available checks for Goals are available on the Validation tab, to confirm validations on template configuration.

Summary

  • The Objectives and Key Results (OKR) methodology can be used to set meaningful goals and measure desired outcomes (Definition of Success) for goals that are not performance goals.
  • The Check Tool provides validation checks on admin-based configurations which can detect issues and suggest resolutions without requiring the submission of a support ticket.
