Creating General Display Name

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain General User Name functionality.

General Display Name

The General Display Name feature allows employees' chosen names to be displayed consistently in all interactions where a legal name isn’t required, while users can also access a person’s legal name whenever needed.

To enable the functionality:

  1. Go to Admin CenterCompany System and Logo Settings.
  2. Select the Enable adoption of the General Display Name.
  3. Save the changes.

Offer ApprovalsWhen reassigning offer approvals, the Candidate Full Name column now supports General Display Name for internal candidates.The Candidate Full Name column continues to display the legal name for external candidates.
Recruiting Posting

The following pages adopt the General Display Name:

  • Posting profile and Groups
  • Users to Posting profile Association
  • When the display name is enabled, it does not reflect in Recruiting Posting immediately. Instead, the changes are reflected only after user synchronization updates.
  • Recruiting Posting does not send a display name to the job board while sending the job posting data.
  • Contact information on the Field Completion Rules page does not support the General Display Name.
Job Requisition

The following pages in Admin Center adopt the General Display Name:

  • Restore Deleted Job Requisitions
  • Reassign Job Requisitions
  • Mass Delete of Job Requisitions
  • The Manage Templates page in Admin Center for Job Requisitions, Job Applications, Candidate Profile, and Offer Detail pages, and adhoc reports do not adopt General Display Name.
Candidate

The following pages in Candidate module support General Display Name:

  • Candidate Search results
  • Portlets on Candidate Profile
