Creating Resources

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to build and implement a resource.

Steps for Creating a Resource

Now that we have learned all about Resources and some example uses, let's create one together.

Step 1: Click the blue plus (+) button to create a new item
The image shows the blue plus (+) button in WalkMe Editor.
Step 2: Choose the desired Resource type
The image shows the dropdown menu with Article and Video resource types highlighted.
Step 3: Name the Resource and click Continue

This will be visible to users in the Player Menu, so give your resource a simple name that's clear and indicative of its purpose.

The image shows a pop-up window titled Create a new Article with FAQs entered as the article name and the Continue button is highlighted.
Step 4: Add the URL of the Resource
The image shows the screenshot of a Behavior Article page with a link to eddiesdepot.com/faq.
Step 5: Select the Display method to determine if the Resource will open in a Pop-up or a New Tab
The image shows the screenshot of a Behavior Article page for setting article display mode with options to open in a new tab or a pop-up.
Step 6: Click Save & Close

If you have additional changes to make to the same Resource, simply click Save and continue editing.

The image shows the screenshot of Behavior Article screen with URL addition, display mode options, and a highlighted 'Save & Close' button.

Exercise: Create a Resource

Below is a software simulation that will guide you through how to build Guidance SmartTips for this scenario. The simulation will replicate what you will experience when you build in your own Editor.

Summary

Resources
  • Resources integrate existing Articles or Videos outside of WalkMe, and bring them to the user right in the moment they need them.
  • Resources can be used to bring important help videos and articles to internal and external users, display promotional content, or bring other important content to the forefront.
  • Resources are created in the WalkMe Editor by linking hosted content to the Menu, a Launcher or a Shoutout.
