Unique User Identifier

Tracking End User Interactions

When building WalkMe Solutions, consider how your team would like to identify your individual end users. How will WalkMe know how to differentiate one person's actions vs. another individual user's actions on your platform?

WalkMe uses a Unique User Identifier (UUID) for this. Setting this up is an integral part of the technical configuration for WalkMe.

Watch the video for an introduction to the UUID.

How to View the Unique User Identifier

As the Builder, it's helpful to understand the Unique User ID tracking method in case you would like to use that information to target specific users or simply to better understand analytics data.

Here's how you can view a System's Unique User Settings.

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top right of the Editor.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. The General tab will open by default.
  4. Under the Unique User Settings section, view the User Identifier details.
The image shows the view of the Unique User Settings section in the Editor.

The figure shows the view of the Unique User Settings section in the Editor.

Note

If the UUID is already configured for your Editor system, do not change it without consulting your WalkMe contact and your company's system admin(s).
