Defining Shuttles

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to identify the benefits and usage of Shuttles.

What is a Shuttle?

Shuttles can be a valuable piece of any WalkMe build in that it takes users to the right place with just one click. Like Smart Walk-Thrus and Resources, Shuttles appear in the WalkMe Menu and serve as a direct link to another URL.

Watch the video to understand how to redirect users with Shuttles.

Key Takeaways
  • Shuttles act like bookmarks and give users a direct link to an external website.
  • Shuttles can open the external website in either the current tab or a new tab in the current browser window.
  • In addition to being housed in the WalkMe menu, Shuttles can be configured to open with a Launcher or Shoutout for super easy user access.

A Shuttle is a direct link embedded as in item in the WalkMe Menu or embedded within Launcher or ShoutOut. It can be thought of like a bookmark.

Once a Shuttle is played it can open in two ways:

Open in Current Tab

If Open in Current Tab is selected, the page will redirect to the relevant URL.

Shuttle Use Cases
  1. Reduce Sales Confusion: Imagine the sales team in an organization communicates and asks each other questions using a group or forum page. This page is not easily found and requires a few clicks to reach. By adding a link to this page using a Shuttle, you can create an instant bookmark for employees to use when going to this page.
  2. Ease Conversion Friction: An E-Commerce company has a link to a promotion page that will prompt customers to sign up for a service or purchase a product. A Shuttle can quickly and easily get customers over to the page.
  3. Connect to Resources That Aren't Easily Found: A start up company needs to give direct access to a webinar signup link that is buried in their marketing page. A Shuttle is will quickly move users to the page and can help to increase signups.
  4. Quick Access to Important Process Documents: A Customer Success organization needs to direct internal users to customer process pages multiple clicks away.

Quick Win: After you have planned your WalkMe Build, think of commonly used reports, pages, or groups that members of your organization frequently use. These can be incorporated as links into the WalkMe Menu to provide quick and easy access to these locations.
