What is a Resource?

Resources can provide great value to any WalkMe build. They are an ideal way to integrate all your pre-existing knowledge base articles, support articles, and videos that are hosted outside of WalkMe into a single hub without the need to recreate them.

Resources are how we can take our existing videos and written documentation, or articles, and incorporate them directly into our site through WalkMe.

Users can easily access all of our content through a variety of entry points such as the Player Menu, Launchers, Onboarding Tasks and Shoutouts. A Resource can be configured to open and play in two ways:

Open in a new browser tab (Recommended)

This will use the URL provided and open the page in a new tab in the same browser window. This allows a user to go back and forth between the information in the new tab and the activity in.

Open in a Pop-up

This will load the content into an iframe, or box, on the same page. This method is recommended if the content is relevant to the page on which it sits but not something that would require frequent reference like a step-by-step guide. For example, an article where user would view information once but ultimately go back to the original process.

Resource Use Cases
  1. New Process Resource Exposure: An organization has recently updated their employee guidelines for customer travel and related expenses. This information is already present in the HR portal, but is rarely used. A Resource can be used to integrate the new guidelines into the CRM, which gets a lot more traffic than the HR portal.
  2. Quick Sales Collateral: The sales organization is looking to provide access to product articles and videos in a new tab so that users don't have to leave the webpage where they are currently working.
  3. Easy Access to Support Resources: An e-commerce company wants to display a support article or video to customers within the page and give them relevant information without interrupting the process flow.
