Configuring Skill Structure

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Structure required skills to differentiate between skill and skill areas
  • Manage required skills to map all skills needed in your club

Creation of Skill Folder Structure

Another important part of the initial infrastructure, besides resource management, is the management of the required skills of the players in the club. In order to create a basis for training management, the skills should be divided into the corresponding skill areas. This ensures that the players' skills are aligned with the training focus of the micro planning process later.

These skill areas can be depicted through a hierarchical folder structure in SAP Sports One. To create the folder structure, simply navigate to Skills in the catalog.

Note

To be able to create and manage the skill catalog, you need the role of administrator or coach and the corresponding permission for skill management. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

In the catalog, you have the option of customizing the skills catalog and adding new skill folders. These folders can be moved by dragging and dropping, which enables a hierarchical structure of the skills catalog. It is also possible to edit and delete the created folder structure.

As a best practice, we suggest that you create the following folder structure for the skill management in SAP Sports One.

Creation of Skills

Once you have divided the skills into skill areas, the next step is to create the skills themselves. The aim is to map all skills in SAP Sports One that are required in the youth sector as well as in professional football for clubs.

Similar to how the skill folders were created, you can now create a skill within these folders. To create skills, simply select the folder and choose Add. All functions such as editing, deleting, and moving can also be carried out for the skills.

SAP also offers a number of best practices for skills. To receive a comprehensive list of all best practices for the skills, get in touch with your SAP contact.
