Importing Performance Data for Training Sessions

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Import and edit performance data for training session to track performance data and to plan load of players
  • Explain how to interpret the ACWR of players to manage load planning for training and matches
  • Explain how analytics can help to analyze tracking data of players and fulfillment of visions

Performance Data Import for Training Session

As has already been mentioned frequently, it is now possible for us to upload player performance data for a training session. There are two different ways to do this: the download from the provider and the upload from manual tracking configuration.

The following video guides you through the process of uploading performance data of the players for a training session.

Hint

To enable synchronization, ensure that you also select a tracking provider in the training information.

After uploading the performance data for the training session, the data can be used in many different analyses, for example for load planning process.

Note

How to carry out load planning in SAP Sports One has already been covered in the Planning Training Management: Micro Planning unit. Please have a look at it if you have not already done so.

Overview of ACWR of Player

After the first performance data of the players for the training sessions have been uploaded, you can directly determine in the Training Planner the acute chronic workload ratio (ACWR) of a player for a particular parameter. The selection of the displayed ACWR parameter is made at Participants in the Training Planner. Select the respective parameter from the dropdown list in the upper right corner.

Note

The selection of the ACWR parameters from the dropdown list refers to the ACWR configuration, which has already been covered in the Agreeing on Targets at Season Start unit. If you have not already done so, please have a closer look at this configuration.

To view the ACWR development of certain parameters, click on a player's ACWR value. The value displayed represents the current daily value for the training session. In this ACWR overview, you can see how a player's ACWR has changed over the course of the selected month and in which threshold area they were at each training session. These information offers many advantages for the load management of a player.

Player Performance with Analytics

In the analytics area, there are many possibilities for analyzing player performance data. For example, an interesting analysis can be to compare a player's daily performance data with their average performance data over a certain period of time. This analysis provides valuable insights into load management by identifying whether the player is performing above or below their usual performance level.

An example of this type of analysis is illustrated on the left side of the figure for the parameters Total Distance and HMLD. This immediately shows the range in which individual players are performing.

However, it also offers the possibility to shift the focus from individual players to the team as a whole. In this context, it can be exciting to compare the average performance of the team during today's training session with those of other days. This observation can, for example, paint an overall picture of the current performance level of the entire team.

The team perspective is shown on the right side of the figure.
