Configuring Training Units

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Configure the details of the training units to ensure adaptability to the circumstances in micro planning
  • Add attachments and sketches for the training unit to depict variations for units in micro planning
  • Explain how to get an overview of the 1RM of athletic excercise for all players to track progress for athletic training
  • Adjust participating players for each training unit to document training participation at the smallest possible level
  • Manage training units to synchronize changes between the catalog and the Training Planner

Training Unit Details Configurations

In addition to participant management, SAP Sports One allows individual training units to be customized. To do this, in the Training Planner, navigate to the Units tab. On the left-hand side, you have the possibility to select all units from the Training Planner.

Start by customizing the details of a training unit. These may, for example, differ from the standard defined in the training exercise catalog. This can be done for various reasons, such as load control, special training unit variations, or a different focus for the upcoming match. These adjustments can also be implemented with the help of SAP Sports One. For example, you can set a lower intensity or a longer duration for an exercise. In this way, the specific requirements are taken into account and noted in SAP Sports One.

Note

For long-term and repeated adjustments, it is advisable to make changes in the exercise catalog.

Training Units Attachments and Sketches

The training unit details are not the only training unit configurations of a training session that are adjustable in SAP Sports One. Similar configuration options are also available for the attachments and the sketches of a training unit, which were previously deposited in the exercise catalog and are now adjustable in the Training Planner.

By default, the attachments and sketches that are already stored in the exercise catalog for an exercise are automatically integrated in the Training Planner. These can be, for example, standard documents and information that are needed regularly.

It is also possible to upload individual sketches and attachments specifically for the training unit. These are only relevant for the specific training session.

This ensures that there is complete flexibility in the training sessions and that adjustments are possible at any time.

1RM of Participants

A summary of the one repetition maximum (1RM) of all players for a specific athletic exercise is also available in the training unit details at 1RM by Participants. This gives the coaching team the opportunity to determine the recommended weight for each player for the athletic exercise. This contributes to transparency in training planning by ensuring a clear overview.

Note

How to document the 1RM for a specific athletic exercise on the player profile has already been described in the Planning Training Management: Micro Planning unit. Please take a look at it if you have not already done so.

Participating Players for Training Units

In addition to managing the participants of a training session, it is also possible to make adjustments for individual training units. This makes it possible to record in more detail whether a player only participated for a certain period of time or only in certain exercises during the training session.

This also allows the coaching team to record whether a player was injured during the training session or had to stop training early for other reasons.

Note

By default, only the players participating in the training session and unit are displayed in this overview.

This function is particularly important for the management of intensities in order to represent the intensity conditions correctly.

To achieve this, select the respective training unit and choose Participants. You can manage the participants in a similar way as for the entire training session.

Training Unit Management

Perhaps the adjustments made for a training exercise should not only apply to this training session, but should be the standard for the training sessions in the future.

To facilitate these adjustments, you have the possibility to navigate to the training units in the Units tab and create a copy of it in the catalog using the three dots. This copy is then considered an exercise and can be selected directly in a training session in the future. In addition, you can go directly to the exercise catalog to get a better overview of it.

In this way, you can ensure that changes in SAP Sports One are directly available in your exercise catalog.
