One of the most important aspects of season planning is the creation and definition of appropriate evaluation templates for a player. These templates are directly related to the targets that are discussed with the player at the beginning of the season. Especially in these areas, which are covered by the template, the player is evaluated during, and at the end of, a season. In this way, the evaluation templates serve as a measure for target agreement and target validation.
Note
A list of all possible evaluation categories relevant for professional football were already created in the Considering Basics for Training Management unit. These evaluation categories were structured in a similar way to the skills of a player.
The evaluation templates are used to map the correct evaluation categories (and, therefore, the skills are to be achieved) to the relevant group of players. In particular, a distinction can be made between the age group, the positions, and the player characteristics. For each specialization of a person in these areas, individual evaluation categories can be decisive.
Note
To be able to create and manage the evaluation templates, you need the role of administrator and the corresponding permission on Templates at Evaluations. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).
If you have the required permissions, you can create the evaluation templates in SAP Sports One at Evaluation Templates in the catalog.
As soon as you create an evaluation template, it is important that you name it clearly and meaningfully. This is especially important due to the facilitation and advantages in a later analysis phase. In the analysis, you can filter directly according to this template, which results in better target validation of the players.
To add any evaluation categories to the template, please use the drag and drop function. On the left-hand side, you have an overview of the hierarchical structure of the evaluation categories and therefore all the evaluation categories existing in the system. In SAP Sports One, you are able to add the top level categories directly to a template or just individual evaluation categories within a top level category. Once you have added all the evaluation categories by dragging and dropping, you can also arrange and move them until the templates suit your use case.
Note
As an example, for illustrative purposes, the evaluation template TIPS was created. This evaluation template is mainly used for youth development in Swiss football. A meaningful connection was made between the categories of the TIPS template and the evaluation categories that were present as a best practice for SAP Sports One. This evaluation scale for target agreement and target validation is also reused for illustrative purposes in many places in this course.
A ready-made template could look like this.

As soon as you have saved the template, you are also able to distribute permissions when navigating via the template. Initially, the evaluation template is accessible for all users with the necessary permissions. At this point, you can individually define which persons and groups should have access to the template.
